Take on ITIL Practitioner
With some effort to understand about ITIL’s new Practitioner stream, I aimed for the ITIL Practitioner exam recently. While the authors have done justice in ensuring the practicability of ITILs books, it is important that those planning to implement or be part of the implementation or even drive ITSM operations- to study this stream.
Though the focus has been majorly limited to CSI activities, I believe much could have been covered under this course. For all practical purposes, the implementation of ITIL or any frameworks is taken up as a project with involvement of a third party consultants and on the other hand, practicing ITIL is much more than driving CSI round the year.
In the organization, ITSM framework has first to be setup, internalized and then improved on.The organization structure has to be built in such a way that it is conducive to the ITIL set of practices. Then it has to be followed enough to discover improvement opportunities. Corrections that don’t need to wait can be made immediately and the rest of them can be driven through CSI.
If you plan to take the Practitioner exams, read enough of
-Business Relationship Management
-Organizational Change Management
-Improvement process of CSI
-KPIs, Measurement and Metrics
During the exam, read through the scenarios carefully and then each question has its own set of smaller scenario updates. Read them as well
All the best
